Why it is made this way
Reduction firing starves the kiln of oxygen and forces the glaze to pull it out of the metal oxides instead, which is what produces the depth and the variation. It also means we cannot promise you a colour — the copper glaze runs from oxblood to near-black depending on where the piece sat in the kiln, and pieces from the same firing differ. We photograph a representative example rather than a perfect one. The mouth is 14mm because a single stem in a wide mouth falls over, and three stems in a narrow one look like an accident.
