Why it is made this way
Forty-eight slats at 4mm with a 3mm gap is the point at which the shade reads as solid from across a room and open from beneath. Fewer slats and the bulb glares through; more and the pattern on the walls disappears into a wash. Every slat is individually slotted into the spine by hand, which is two hours per shade and the reason it costs more than the pressed-steel dome.
