Why it is made this way
Side tables tip. This one weighs 11kg because the column is solid cast stoneware rather than a hollow tube, which puts almost all the mass at floor level. The trade is that it is genuinely awkward to carry and will chip if dropped on a hard floor — we ship it double-crated and we replace chipped columns at cost for two years.
